Welcome at Eden Project
Eden Project is not only a "nice place to be" for endangered species of
plants, it's also a nice place for a visitor! The visitor's center
gives wide room to a cafe, a shop and lots of information and art
pieces dedicated to the State of the Planet.
The horse on the photo below is made from wood, craftily assembled. It
greets the visitors in the area in front of the visitor's center.
One of the "make you think" pieces of art is the "Plant
Takeaway", a scene of people in their living room, with a dog on a
carpet, a newspaper in front of it, a table with glasses full of orange
juice, chairs and a cat joyfully licking some milk.
Then the take away of all products that are made of plants begins: The
orange juice disappears from the glasses, newspaper, table and chairs
vanish, and the people are naked. Next, oxygen vanishes, too, and
humans and animals drop dead.
The picture below shows the cat before the air runs out.
The great thing about it (beside the educational message) is that the
whole scene is a mechanical wonder-work. The show runs about two
minutes, the table folds away, the chairs lift off, the newspaper
disappears in a kind of trap door and the cat - oh I'll spare you the
details, go find out yourself!
